week 8

Eight weeks into the research and observation of my community the common theme that seems to be happening is that members of the community think highly of their program and what they represent, and people outside the community a majority of the time think a frat is only a place to party and drink. In the interviews I conducted that’s how I have come up with these conclusions. Also my own personal opinion of frats before and after I have been introduced into the community has affected my research. My place in the culture is still the same. A frat takes up a lot of time, and takes a lot of dedication. As an architecture student I barely have time as it is. So I am still an outsider. Although things have changed since the start of this project, people in the community are starting to know who I am. I feel more comfortable in the community and they make me feel welcome.

Robby, i think you have a pretty good main theme. You mite want to somehow pick one or the other or somehow blend them together. I agree with you that a frat takes up a lot of time and it is kinda hard to be included as a member if your not in the frat. Good luck with the rest of the project.

Thats good to know that your perception of the frat has changed. I know when I think of a frat I automatically think of a bunch of boys living together that throw parties. Its good to know that things aren't always as they seem! Good luck with finishing up your research :)
