If I were to stop someone walking down the street and ask what they thought about frats I could several answers. If I asked someone who was a member of the frat they would tell me stuff about the brotherhood, and all the advantages of being in a frat. If I asked someone who was not in a frat I would probably get a response about drinking involved in frats. Male college students are a part of this subculture.

Yeah I know nothing about frats, so I'd probably be one of the people assuming it was all drinking and parties.
