I think I will be using headings for my final paper. I think it works best because I have a lot of different aspects that i need to cover and it will be easiest to make the transition that way.

week 11

The hardest part about the research is finding time to obtain what I need. Being an architecture student finding time to visit the site is hard to do. The easiest part of it is when I do have time I have no troubles finding what I need. Keeping a blog helps me keep track of what I have done already. That way I won’t waist the time that I have on repeating things. If I plan on doing my final paper chronologically this I will be able to use the blog to determine what I did and when.

Box 30

I found my archival information from the E-Archive on the Ball State Archives page. It talks about how the frats at Ball State are trying to turn things around since they have lost 5 Frats in the last 3 years do to different problems. But they are getting more involved and cracking down on certain issues that have come up in the frat. This will help because it explains how there are problems in frats like everyone knows there are. However, they are doing things to fix it.

Week 10 Reflection

Gamma- When the older brothers pull rank and make the lower ranked do things

Sigep- Sigma Phe Epsilon, also when the brothers need to share something secret about the frat

Boner Story- Funny stories brothers tell about themselves or other brothers

Rush- The process of joining

Big bro- Older brothers that are assigned to a new member to help them out.

A lot of my words are pretty common and are heard outside of the frat. The only one that may have given people trouble is Boner Story. They probably couldn't get their heads out of the gutter, its not as bad as you think.

By doing this research I can help outsiders understand some of the benefits of joining a frat. I can provide a way of helping outsiders decide if joining a frat would be a good thing for them to do. I can help change the stereotype that frats are only for drinking, and show what frats are really meant for. This could help the community grow; it helps other people understand what frats are about. It also changes my own views of frats.
